Britney Spears is back, and this time, it’s just ok.
I’m usually excited for new music from pop mega-stars such as Britney, but after giving this a couple of listens, it fell flat. Don’t get me wrong, it is an absolute smash, but not for someone like Britney. The first 10 seconds sound like that Nick Jonas and Tove-Lo collab, “Close“. Then the rest of it sound like a mix of Kiiara’s “Gold” and some sort of Flume knock off.
With all those comparisons being said, I see exactly why she took this route because each of those tracks has smashed the charts. As for a Britney move, I expected something bigger and filled with more energy. To add to the generic track, she adds rapper of the moment to the mix, G-Eazy.
Either way, this track is going to do wonders on the charts and everything because it just fits right in. I’m hoping for something else the next time around!
If you want a smash by a pop superstar, see Fergie’s “M.I.L.F”
Nick Jonas is definitely stepping out of his previous identity with this album. First collaborating with Tinashe, now with Jhene Aiko, I have to give the guy props. I really love his album too, it is definitely a solid crossover album filled with huge tracks. Now he has been remixing a lot of his tracks, and this ‘Chains’ remix is definitely one to keep. Jhene Aiko’s sexy, smooth vocals fit perfectly with Nick’s equally raw vocals. Everything about this track is great, it all just fits together so perfectly, Nick definitely knows what he is doing this time around and is going to get mad airplay on every airwave with this track.
I was never a fan of The Jonas Brothers, but Nick started gaining my attention back when he did that project with The Administration, and after the release of his first solo single, ‘Chains’, I was hooked. Now with the few leaks he has had with ‘Numb‘ being a huge hit with me. Nick Jonas gives us some R&B vibes by featuring the talented Tinashe on the already smash song ‘Jealous’. Nick is doing everything right with this solo project and I’m loving every track he has put out so far. This guy is going to do huge solo things, and now that JT will be out of the picture for a little bit, Nick Jonas is going to rule the charts.
Nick Jonas drops November 11th, watch out world!
I don’t really know where to start with this track. First, it’s straight fire, second, it’s Nick Jonas. Who would have thought that the former Jonas brother had this in the works, this collaboration with Angel Haze is something different, and yet still has top 40 written all over it. It sounds a bit like trap music at points, but this will shoot up to the top of the charts easily, it might even give Angel Haze the necessary push to fame that she deserves.
I’m actually really excited for the new Nick Jonas album; never thought I would find myself saying that.
