ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Brandyn Burnette

brandynburnette4

Although he has decided to take another route, I have American Idol to thank for bringing me Brandyn Burnette after he performed an emotional rendition of “Lost”.

He first caught my attention with his smooth vocal ability, and drew me in further after listening to his lyrical ability. I started looking into him, only to find more greatness. He has an EP of his own which is out now, that is really quite amazing. His production ability definitely highlights his vocals and it all flows together perfectly.

NEW MUSIC: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – White Privilege II

This is a music blog, and it is not going to get political. I am here for the music, so I will keep it short and sweet.

I am a huge fan of Macklemore and I think he usually speaks a lot of truth, and this track has come at the perfect time. This is a track you need to listen to in full, headphones on, and reading the lyrics so you can absorb everything that was said. The track is just short of 9 minutes long, so take some time out.

I am excited to hear Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ second album, I think it will speak miles.

Check out the lyrics to this track after the jump!

NEW MUSIC: Kanye West – Black Skinhead (Remix) [Ft. Miley Cyrus & Travis Scott]

kanye-west-and-miley-cyrus-record-black-skinhead-remix

This was recorded quite a while ago, but it has finally surfaced. The unlikely collab between Miley, Kanye, and Travis Scott has now been released. Kanye changes up the beat, and Miley hooks a Tears For Fears sample, but it all kind of works. Travis doesn’t really have much input on the track, but some background vocals here and there.

It is nothing life changing, but its a refreshing take on a song that was released almost two years ago. I’m betting it was surfaced in hype for Kanye’s new music.

NEW MUSIC: AlunaGeorge – I’m in Control [Ft. Popcaan]

If you have been a long time fan of the site, you know I have been standing behind AlunaGeorge for almost four years now, and I still listen to their debut album, Body Music. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVED that DJ Snake gave them their much deserved success with his remix, but people need to realize that they were talented without him.

Alright, rant over.

What could be considered a comeback single, since they haven’t released anything official since 2014. (Aside from “Supernatural“, about a year ago) The track is definitely along the lines of their “You Know You Like It” success track, which is definitely a smart move on their part. It is very jungle inspired and when you add Aluna’s sexy vocal ability over it, it becomes an instant hit.

I love this track, and it is good to know that they haven’t completely changed up their sound because of their mainstream success.

NEW VIDEO: Grimes – Kill V. Maim

I haven’t been a HUGE Grimes fan, until just recently when they released one of my favorite tracks of last year, “California“. Something about the energetic, feel good, offset pop vibe that they brought instantly had me hooked.

Today, Grimes gives us a just as energetic and wild track with an equally crazy video for, “Kill V. Maim”. There is people covered in blood and dressed as zombies, and it is all greatness. It is like if Lady GaGa in her crazy state decided to create a remake of Michael Jackson’s “Bad”, but with a couple of cartoon animations and a little more insane pop magic added to it.

There is just a lot of different vibes that this entire video gives me, the main one being absolutely insane. I love this track even more now.

I have done a few artist features in the past, but I would like to keep going and showing you some serious talent. That being said, here is a huge talent that made me instantly try and discover everything musical behind him, Trent Harmon.

As soon as he started singing one of my all time favorite songs, by one of my all time favorite artists, I knew I had to find whatever I could on this guy. Luckily, he had endless amounts of Youtube covers to satisfy my ears. Check out our short feature, and his amazing vocals below!

NEW MUSIC: Kanye West – No Parties in LA [Ft. Kendrick Lamar]

nmpila

Kanye West has returned to his G.O.O.D Friday days and has been giving us a new track every Friday, and after missing the deadline last week, he finally gives us the full version of the Kendrick assisted, “No More Parties in LA”.

This track definitely has old school Kanye vibes which was my favorite version of him, and of course Kendrick is a standout for me, so I’m loving this track. Kanye’s album Swish is due out Feb. 11th.

Take a listen below!

NEW VIDEO: JoJo – Save My Soul

JoJo graces us with her final video from her Tringle, giving us visuals for ‘Save My Soul’. This track was definitely the standout of the three songs she released, and I’m glad she was able to create some magic with this video. The video is stripped down, and has a very vulnerable sense to it which is exactly what the song needs behind it.

She took to instagram to release a full statement on what the song actually means. I highly suggest reading the statement before watching the video because it gives it so much more perspective.

NEW MUSIC: Iggy Azalea – Azillion

iggy-azillion

Iggy has had one of the strangest careers, she went from nothing to being on every air wave in the nation, then went back and caught so much backlash for her rapping skills.

Iggy has returned with a different sound, and she has a lot more fire in her verses than her bubblegum pop that we are used to hearing. With the Steve Angello sample behind her, she attempts to go in with her classic Iggy flow.

I don’t care much for this song, Iggy is spent as far as I’m concerned, but who knows what will happen to this. I feel like the general public is done with her too, but only time will tell.

NEW MUSIC: Alex Vargas – Shackled Up

334877392_640

Here we go!

Alex Vargas was one of our artists to watch for 2016, and he starts the year off by giving us some haunting vibes on his track, ‘Shackled Up’.

There is so much about this track that I love. Alex gives us life with his amazing vocals, singing about a trapped relationship. The slowed down production let’s us soak in the raw emotion that he is conveying and if you aren’t a fan of the vocals by now….

Anyway, his EP is due out this month and I couldn’t more excited to hear what else this talent has to offer.

Check out the studio version of the track, and I highly suggest you check out the session he did for Distiller Music, for a live version of this track.

Amazing Alex, just amazing.
