NEW MUSIC: Sia – Reaper

2d3943bf

Yesterday we got a tease from the Kanye West written and produced track from Sia, ‘Reaper’. Well, she has just released the lyrically powerful track in full, and it is actually quite fantastic.

I have always been a huge Sia fan, aside from her way overplayed Top 40 hits, but her album 1000 Forms of Fear was definitely a 2014 standout. You can definitely hear the Kanye sound on this track, dating almost back to his Graduation days. Sia sounds as amazing as ever, and fits perfectly over this feel good pop anthem beat.

Sia’s next album, This is Acting, is due out the end of this month. It sounds she has mildly changed her sound from the darker sound she had before. I’m all for this sound, and I can’t wait to hear what else she has in store!

NEW MUSIC: Brandy – Beggin & Pleadin

artworks-000142036100-4rdb7h-t500x500

In my eyes, there isn’t enough Brandy in the industry. I was JUST listening to her discography a couple of days, wondering where she got off to. Luckily, she has been found, and has found a completely different sound.

Brandy has graced us with an almost blues sound this time around. She is basically just showing us how much talent she is capable of because she undoubtedly is letting those vocals go and it sounds amazing. She almost has a Jazmine Sullivan sound to her track, which also isn’t a bad thing either.

I really think Brandy is so underrated in the industry, she is the complete package and yet, much of the world is missing out. Either way, this track is amazing, and so is she.

Here is to hoping for a Brandy filled 2016!

NEW COVER: Craig David – Love Yourself (Justin Bieber Cover)

CRAIG-DAVID-759x500

Craig David is basically killing the game right now. With his string of covers, and his epic garage track ‘When The Bassline Drops‘ , he has been making quite the comeback. Craig now gives us a different turn on another Justin Bieber track, ‘Love Yourself’.

He gives the soulful smooth track a mild garage flip, and speeds it up giving us a fantastic freestyle at the end. This might be better than the original in it’s own way, maybe I am biased because I have been a huge Craig David fan for quite some time.

Unfortunately, the type of sound he is giving us definitely won’t receive well over here in the states. Either way, I’m loving everything about this track, and the more Craig the better!

NEW COVER: Ellie Goulding – Just In Case (Jaheim Cover)

15857643406_6d75f68f52_b

Ellie Goulding has been known to put her spin on a lot of strange songs in her career, but this might be the most random of them all. Remember that singer that sang the jam “Just In Case” about 6 years ago named Jaheim? No? Well no one else does either, so that’s ok.

Ellie puts her classic spin on a very random cover of this old school track. I have always been a huge fan of her and her unique covers, and this is no exception. It is nothing amazing, but I have a lot of respect for her when she goes outside her “comfort” zone and does this, as she labeled, “#justforfun”.

Listen to the fantastic cover, with the help of producer Jordan Evans, of “Just In Case”. If you don’t remember the original, I highly suggest you click HERE first and then listen to the cover, it makes it that much better.

NEW VIDEO: RAY BLK – 5050

I just stumbled upon RAY BLK, so I’m not too familiar with much of her material, but from what I have heard is baaad! In my favorite find from her, ‘5050’, she serves up a whole lot of attitude with a very sexy vibe.

I have been getting a lot of different vibes from the type of sound shes producing, and I like that. She has a mixture of quite a few genres in this track, but all of it flows perfectly into her own unique sound. You can definitely tell her UK influences in this song, it has a sort of grime flavor to it.

I have only listened to maybe two tracks from her, but it seems like she is just starting to take over the airwaves, and I look forward to hearing what else she has in store for us!

With the rise of talent’s like Tink, I believe that there is definitely room for her in the industry, and here is to hoping that we catch on to her sound, because it is needed over here in the USA!

Watch out world!

LLM’s World Music Update

World update

Alright, I’m going to try something new here.

In short, about once a month I take a look at the charts around the world, to keep myself in the know about other countries music. They adapt to our music culture, so why not give them a chance.

Now, not all of them will be in English, but that shouldn’t matter because, like I stated earlier, they adapt to us. I am basically just going to post tracks/videos from around the world. I probably won’t give you a whole review of the track on it, because I honestly have input about tracks that aren’t in English. That being said, I just feel like they deserve some exposure, and seeing as I have viewers from around the world, it is only fair.

So, let’s see how this works. If I see it getting a little attention, I’ll keep doing it. I just feel like people need to be educated on ALL types of music, rather than stick to our own music culture.

They are in order from my favorite to least favorite find. I recommend taking at least one listen to them all, get yourself educated!

So below the jump is a few tracks I have found with my search, enjoy!

NEW VIDEO: Majid Jordan – Something About You

With the huge success of people like Drake and The Weeknd, we find a unique sound and style emerging in he music industry. The duo known as, Majid Jordan, who are under Drake’s label OVO, is now finding the right sound for them. ‘Something About You’ sounds a lot like any track The Weeknd could have put out there, but I think what separates them is the almost hip-hop sounding bass feel that The Weeknd has lost since his shoot to fame.

The duo is giving us Drake and The Weeknd back when I first heard them, not so mainstream sounding, and more experimental with their sound with an almost HudMo vibe, which I am loving. Anyway, we hope to hear more from these guys this year, and hope they keep a sound similar to this!

NEW VIDEO: Thirdstory – Hello (Adele Cover)

Adele brought one of the biggest songs of the year to the industry, “Hello”. With that, comes countless amounts of covers which can get qite overwhelming. Well luckily we have found a pretty fantastic one, from an equally fantastic trio, Thirdstory. We recently posted their “Hotline Bling” cover, and before the year ended they decided to grace us with one last cover to close out the year.

I’m just a fan of these guys and every cover they have ever done. Their harmonies are on another level, and each vocal brings something different to the overall sound. There is just so much talent that can come out them that I am looking forward to their career because it seems like it is just getting started.

They recently announced they were going on tour in the USA, but sadly aren’t coming down to Dallas, so I’ll have to skip out, but check their Facebook for all the tour dates to see if they are coming to a city near you!

NEW MUSIC: Radiohead – Spectre

radiohead-spectre-640x640

Sam Smith was the king of this year’s James Bond theme, but Thom Yorke, had a couple of things to say about that. He stated that “Last year we were asked to write a tune for Bond movie Spectre. Yes we were ………..”, but it didn’t work out.

Now as we end the year, they decided to release what would have been the bond theme song. Take a listen!

While Sam Smith broke records and released an epic Bond track, Radiohead gives it their classic haunting spin. I don’t know which of the two tracks I prefer, considering I haven’t seen the movie, but I am quite in love with this Radiohead track.
