NEW MUSIC: Raleigh Ritchie – Stay Inside

raleigh-ritchie

Thanks to Pinboard, I have recently discovered the soulful Raleigh Ritchie. Raleigh has a very soulful tone to his voice, but the beats he sings over reminds me like another James Blake a bit. That’s not to take anything away from Raleigh, because they are very different, but I can’t help but compare. ‘Stay Inside’ is a very catchy track, and definitely one of my more recent favorites that I have come across. He has another track on his soundcloud titled A Moor, which is just as good.

Hope to hear more from him very soon!

NEW MUSIC: Leon Else – Tomorrow Land (All Fall Down)

Stumbled upon this guy a couple of days ago, and after giving this track a couple of spins, I thought it was very necessary that I share it. Leon Else is a newcomer from over seas in the UK, with a very distinct sound following in the footsteps of Jamie Woon, James Blake and The XX. ‘Tomorrow Land’ starts out very haunting and smooth at the same time, while Leon’s vocals flow perfectly over the beat. The track continues to grow musically and vocally into a very big track. I love everything about this track, and I think Leon Else will definitely have a career in the UK, I just hope the USA catches this soon!

NEW MUSIC: CHVRCHES – Recover

Chvrches-Recover

Most of you may not have heard of CHVRCHES yet, they have just recently placed 5th in BBC’s sound of 2013, which is also filled with some of my other favorites including, AlunaGeorge and Angel Haze. CHVRCHES hooked me on their release of their track ‘Lies‘. They bring a very fresh Electronic yet Pop feel to their music, which in the end brings out some musical greatness.

Their new single “Recover” premiered today on BBC Radio, and just like their previous efforts, its perfection! The sound is definitely a change from their previous tracks, but yet, they keep their trademark stamp on it. The front woman sounds great over the semi dance electro beat. I see big things in the future for these guys, and I hope they hit the states soon, they are slowly becoming one of my favorites!

NEW MUSIC: James Arthur – Impossible

James-Arthur-Impossible

This year’s X-factor UK winner, James Arthur has put up his debut single from the show ‘Impossible’. While this is a cover of the just as amazing Shontelle version, and maybe not the BEST first single for a kind of artist like James, he still gives it all he can and I absolutely love this version. Just like everything he did on X-factor James adds his own stamp to the version, making it more emotional in a different way, and his vocals sound absolutely amazing as usual.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT/NEW VIDEO: Lyrica Anderson – Love Me

I recently saw Lyrica perform at a venue at SXSW and immediately fell in love. After doing some research, I found out the talent behind the big haired beauty is super producer Timbaland. Having support from one of the most influential producers in our generation is never a bad thing and it definitely shows in this track ‘Love Me’.

MUSIC YOU SHOULD KNOW: Stooshe – Love Me

I know this song isn’t new or anything, but I feel like people who haven’t heard of Stooshe need to get informed. This all female trio is slowly making their mark on the industry with their controversial lyrics and unique look and I love every moment of it. They are easily one of my favorite groups of the past couple of years, their personality just shows through every song they do AND they have the vocals to back it all up. Mark my words, they will be a HUGE success!

Originally breaking out on the scene with their amazing song ‘Betty Woz Gone‘,  Stooshe has released their music video for their before titled song ‘Fuck Me’ (the video has been taken down, for obvious reasons) but for radio purposes has changed it to ‘Love Me’ and featured Gym Class Heroes’ own Travie McCoy, check it out below!

now available in itunes, GO BUY IT

Absolutely can’t wait to hear more from them, and hopefully a US takeover!

Artist Spotlight: Mike Hough

First discovered Mike Hough just stumbling around on youtube, and immediately fell in love with his vocals. I did some more research at the time and all he had was youtube covers at the time but that has changed quite a lot. This guy is definitely one to watch out for mixing the likes of pop, soul, and R&B, his tracks have definitely have been worthy of the small itunes fee. With inspirations like Adele & Beyonce you can definitely hear their sound on the tracks he creates, but still adds his own touch to it.  His vocals are definitely unique and fit well over a smooth R&B track and even a massive pop track. Watch out for this guy in the coming months, and next year!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: Rita Ora

As the title says, there has been some buzz going on with her recently, I heard her song ‘Hot Right Now‘ with DJ Fresh, which is a HUGE  dubstep/dance tune in the UK, but after that I didn’t really hear anything from her until more recently. She is signed to Roc Nation (Bridget Kelly, Jay Z,  & J.Cole) and is I’m hearing talks that she has premiered her first single ‘Party and Bullshit’ just a few hours ago on Z100. Aside from her being drop dead gorgeous, she is REALLY talented too. Check some of her videos after the jump!

FREE MIXTAPE: Jay Norton – The Spare Room Sessions

Click Cover For FREE Download

I first discovered this talent while doing a random search on youtube, and I was instantly hooked on his vocals. Many youtube videos later, he has graced us with a mixtape titled ‘Spare Room Sessions’. The mixtape is filled with covers from the likes of Robyn and mashups of 2 artists such as James Blake & Wiz Khalifa, and he even threw in a couple of original demos on there. I think this guys vocals are pretty amazing, and it’s definitely just the beginning for him. Can’t wait to see what else he has in store for 2012!
