I haven’t heard anything about this guy until his video just got premiered on Pinboard, but after hearing the song/seeing the visuals, I fell in love. This track is so smooth and just fits in so many places. While the creator is from the UK, he adds a little french twist with the lyrics over a sick beat.
If you like what you hear, definitely check out the rest of his short EP that he recently released after the jump!
YES, one of my favorite producers/artists of last year has graced us with a new tune! ‘Surely’ is right up there with all his other tracks, with a nice smooth beginning, then hitting hard with some intense bass moments, this is definitely a track of the month. If you haven’t already, check out his album that was released last year titled SBTRKT.
This song has just decided to grown on me, so I feel like I should give it a post.
Former Pussycat Doll (not nicole) Melody Thornton, is going solo releasing her first mixtape titled P.O.Y.B.L which stands for Piss On Your Black List,is out March 15!
On the first track off it titled ‘Lipstick & Guilt’ she shows off her hidden vocals over Kanye and Jay beat ‘No Church In The Wild’. I’m surprised the plastic surgery queen behind PCD didn’t put her upfront more with vocals like that. I’m actually looking forward to hearing what Melody has going on in this mixtape, she could very well slay Nicole.
I know this song isn’t new or anything, but I feel like people who haven’t heard of Stooshe need to get informed. This all female trio is slowly making their mark on the industry with their controversial lyrics and unique look and I love every moment of it. They are easily one of my favorite groups of the past couple of years, their personality just shows through every song they do AND they have the vocals to back it all up. Mark my words, they will be a HUGE success!
Originally breaking out on the scene with their amazing song ‘Betty Woz Gone‘, Stooshe has released their music video for their before titled song ‘Fuck Me’ (the video has been taken down, for obvious reasons) but for radio purposes has changed it to ‘Love Me’ and featured Gym Class Heroes’ own Travie McCoy, check it out below!
Earlier this year, the club banger version of this song, remixed by Maison & Dragen, was released and definitely is still on heavy rotation. Now, the original soft rock version has finally been released, and I have to say it’s pretty good. I definitely prefer the remix, but I can definitely see this getting some chart success. His vocals are extremely versatile and he has a pretty good range, and this song definitely shows that. He doesn’t really sound like a Script knockoff anymore, at least in this song, I’ll have to listen to his album when it drops to give my final decision.
French producer has a released a quite sick track titled ‘ Yo Vogue’. The bass line is dirty, everything about this track is music at it’s finest. According to the comments this track has been online for a long time now, but I only just found it, since it has gained some buzz as it is being officially released. I don’t know much about this guy except that I definitely need to hear some more stuff from him (soundcloud).
One of my big producers of last year was Burial, having worked with one of my favorite artists of last year Jamie Woon. Now he is back with a very chilled out summer vibe track titled ‘Nova’ with another UK producer Four Tet. No word yet on where this track comes from, but either way its definitely worth a listen!
Recently featured Rita Ora is trying to have quite a strong debut by releasing her Chase & Status produced tune, ‘R.I.P’ featuring UK rapper Tinie Tempah. This is the UK debut single she is going to have and I can clearly see why, it is definitely a lot more hard hitting than her USA debut ‘Party & Bullshit‘.
Take a Listen:
Although not as strong and catchy as ‘Hot Right Now’ with DJ Fresh, but definitely a strong debut. The original Chase & Status produced beat comes from Nneka’s ‘Heartbeat‘ remix, and honestly I prefer this Rita Ora version to that one. That being said, I’m not sure which single I prefer out of the two, seeing as ‘Party’ has grown on me since its first listen. It really is two different musical worlds, one is more dubstep influenced and a little like a Rihanna ‘Rated R’ throw away, the other is kind of like a Jessie J throw away track. Either way, I know she has way more vocal potential than both of these tracks, and I hope she releases a tune that shows that. I still haven’t given up on her just yet, I just hope she doesn’t sell out to the business.
Earlier this week an unlikely yet amazing collaboration came out with the Gorillaz, Andre 300, and LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy. I absolutely LOVE this song, and Andre 3000’s verse is pure fire. The video is your normal Gorillaz video, animation and all.
The song is definitely a step forward for them, and I think their upcoming album could be quite good, like most of the rest of them were.
The beautiful JoJo has released another single off her long awaited album Jumping Trains due out this spring titled ‘Sexy To Me’. A demo for this song leaked quite a long time ago, but now the song has officially been released on itunes, and it definitely sounds a lot better than the demo. This song is definitely different from her first single ‘Disaster‘ (which has a crazy good dubstep/dance remix), it has a more uptempo beat and it is definitely just more fun all together.
JoJo’s album has been in the works for quite some time, and it’s good to see it all finally coming together, I can’t wait to see what other tracks she has in store.
