2012 Grammy Performances

Tonights performances were very interesting, there were some by ‘artists’ that needed their nominations taken away (Nicki Minaj) and some that basically showed why they were owning the world (Adele), and even a heartfelt performance of the late legend Whitney Houston.

In addition, tonight Adele tied the record for winning the most Grammy awards in one night by a female with a total of 6 grammy’s tonight, sharing that record with Beyonce. While Adele is only 23 years old and just on her 2nd album in her career, I would say she is well on her way to plenty more records to be broken.

We Miss You Whitney Houston

Everyone knows what impact she had on the music business, so there definitely isn’t much left to say about her. She had a voice that no one could describe and that no one will ever forget. She sang some of the most iconic ballads of our time that will live on forever. She’s a legend that helped define unbelievable music and she will be missed.

NEW VIDEO: Maverick Sabre’s Bob Marley Tribute

One of my favorite UK sites SBTV has done an acoustic session with one of my favorite soul singers of the past 2 years, Maverick Sabre. SBTV is known for doing sessions with artists that are trying to breakout into the business and they have found some pretty amazing talent; Maverick Sabre, Jessie J, Ed Sheeran.

Anyway, seeing as it is the legend that is Bob Marley’s birthday today, what better way than to tribute than to sing one of his most famous songs ‘Redemption Song’. I might be a bit biased because I love everything Maverick Sabre does, but this cover is AMAZING.

Maverick Sabre’s album is out now in the UK, and he has reached #1 right where he belongs. If only the USA could recognize such talent.

RIP Bob Marley

Christina Aguilera sings ‘At Last’

Since it is a slow day in the world of music, I figured I should post this video of Christina Aguilera singing ‘At Last’ at the legendary Etta James’ funeral service this morning. Every time Christina Aguilera is called upon to tribute a great artist, well, she NEVER fails and this just adds to the list.

Say what you please about her vocal control, but to me there is something about her untrained control that gives it the most appeal, rather than a machine manufactured singer. Soulful vocals and all she basically slayed that song just how it was meant to be slayed. There is a reason why she gets chosen to tribute so many legends and well just watch the video below and you will see why. AMAZING!
