Earlier last month she gave us two singles, “Hungry” & “You Already Know” as a part of her long awaited second solo album, Double Dutchess. She finally shares the visuals from my favorite of the two tracks and it’s so visually different from what you would expect from a pop-star. That is one thing we can always count on with Fergie, she always brings a unique side to the cookie cutter pop world!
This is a pop video I can get down with!
Stay tuned, Double Dutchess is due out NEXT WEEK!
While everyone is talking about Taylor Swift’s trash new track, we are over here marveling at Fergie Ferg. With her follow up album FINALLY getting a release, she gives us TWO tracks ahead of its release.
Our favorite of the 2 is the Nicki Minaj assisted, “You Already Know”. It has a very old school vibe sampling DJ EZ Rock’s, “It Takes Two”. Although I did a few of her previous singles (“MILF $“), this is definitely the Fergie I have been waiting for.
Take a listen below, and after the jump find the Rick Ross assisted second single, “Hungry”!!
“Light My Body Up” is definitely going to be a song for the summer, and features two huge names. I was hesitant on the Lil Wayne feature because I was expecting a pop anthem that we are used to from Guetta, but this is just perfection. Guetta tones it down and gives us something more bass heavy and basically it all just fits together perfectly.
After Ariana delivered a mediocre performance at the VMA’s, she dropped the video for one of my favorite singles off a fantastic album, ‘Side To Side’. The video is what you would expect from Ariana and Nicki, it oozes sex and is filled with a lot of meaningless visuals. It is time these pop-stars give their videos some depth, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Enjoy!
BeBe Rexha is the new “It” girl after taking huge success with her G-Eazy collaboration “Me Myself and I”. Now she is taking a turn a stepping out from behind the scenes and breaking out on her own. She has written some monster hits for some huge superstars including Eminem, Rihanna, Tinashe and David Guetta. I always have huge respect for talents that step out and decide it is their turn to take the spotlight.
“No Broken Hearts” isn’t anything amazing, but it is the perfect debut single for her. I mentioned in another post about the female empowerment run on the airwaves that we have, and this fits perfectly in line with it. It’s fun, it is a little ratchet thanks to Nicki and it’s catchy.
Don’t see it doing too well on the charts, but like I said, she is just getting started.
We have been getting hints at this collab for a little bit now, and it has finally dropped. I have to admit, this is fire! Beyonce and Nicki make a perfect team, I’m not sure why Beyonce hasn’t done too many features before, it definitely adds to her tracks. Nicki adds probably one of her best verses yet to the track, and while I haven’t heard her single ‘Anaconda’ yet, if she brings this much heat to a feature, lets hope she continues with it on her own solo stuff.
Beyonce also takes a quick second to kind of address the elevator incident that she kind of brushed off with her official statement. Anyway, I’m here for the track and not the drama.
Three of musics biggest women are joining forces to create a huge, hard hitting ladies anthem. While I feel like all three of them could have brought something fantastic the table, they played the radio friendly route and brought the pop friendly anthem. This song is already huge on itunes charts, and no doubt will at least hit top 5 billboard. I do like the song, but I am a bit disappointed, all this talent, and this is what comes from it.
In other news, the ladies are supposed to perform this track at the Video Music Awards coming up soon!
Usher comes back funky with his Pharrell produced single, ‘She Came To Give It To You’. While this Pharrell beat is a bit retired and predictable, I’m not mad at this track. I really hope Usher keeps this sound going, because, while this is no ‘Good Kisser’, I’m very impressed with this. It’s not a standout single that will remain in your ears forever, but at least he isn’t doing his crappy dance/EDM vibe anymore.
Usher is also going to be opening up the VMA’s soon, so we might get a taste for new music then.
I’m actually quite excited for the new Young Money project, this being the second single from their compilation, and I have to say, I love this. Nicki Minaj is really bringing it lately and while I stopped caring for Wayne, I still really like this song.
