NEW STREAM: M.I.A – Matangi

M.I.A finally decides to grace us with an album after releasing an iconic ‘bad girls’ track forever ago. Matangi as a whole is exactly what you expect from an M.I.A album, loud noises, catchy hooks, and a lot of cultural influence. That’s not to say it’s bad, its actually quite amazing, maybe not the whole thing, but there are definitely some stand out tracks. Sadly, her ‘Collaboration’ with The Weeknd, isn’t really a collaboration but more of a sampling of one of his songs, but either way, its a pretty huge track. Take a listen above, the whole album is there in a playlist so just press play and enjoy!

NEW MUSIC: OneDirection – Story of My Life

one-direction-story-of-my-life-lyrics

I have actually been a fan of OneDirection since they debuted on Xfactor in the UK, and I have quietly supported them through all their same sounding singles, but now they have given me a reason to not be ashamed of my love for them. ‘Story of My Life’ has a very folk/indie sound to it, which is actually quite amazing. Channeling a bit of Mumford and Sons in way, but in a more pop-ish way, ‘Story of My Life’ is a huge step forward for the boys.

I definitely see this song coming on the radio and people falling in love with it, and then finding out it’s OneDirection. If they keep in this kind of direction, rather than the bubblegum pop they have been doing, they could be around for a very long time.

NEW VIDEO: Ben Kahn – Drive (Part 1)

If I had to sum up Ben Kahn, it would be Jai Paul. The 2 have very similar sounds its incredible, I can’t explain how much I have craved a new Jai Paul song, or even just some contact from him, but for fans of Jai Paul, I’m sure your void will be filled with Ben Kahn for just a little bit longer. Check out the video for Drive, and also look into his other tracks, all which are quite amazing!

NEW MUSIC: M.I.A – Y.A.L.A

mia-yala

Lately M.I.A’s efforts have been either hit or miss, her previous tracks in the past couple of months, that I have no idea what they were called, have definitely been a miss. I’m not sure which album she is putting the gem that is ‘Bad Girls’ but it doesn’t compete with the others.

That being said, ‘Y.A.L.A’ is definitely a hit. It is back to old school M.I.A with the loud noises and hard hitting beat and a catchy chorus. There isn’t much else to say expect if you’re a fan of M.I.A you will love this track.

Her album is said to be released Nov. 5th with a collaboration from The Weeknd which I feel, if done right, could be amazing.

NEW MUSIC: Daley – Look Up

Daley+PNG

Daley has slowly been moving up the popularity charts, gaining his much deserved recognition in the USA with his track ‘Alone Together’, and now hot off the heels of his USA Tour announcement, it is only a matter of time until he becomes a superstar

This track isn’t the newest, but seeing as I have been supporting Daley since the beginning, I need to have a post for this Pharrell produced track titled ‘Look Up’. ‘Look Up’ followed his UK release titled ‘Broken‘.

‘Look Up’ has all the right necessities for a feel good song, and can I just say that Daley working with Pharrell is a huge step, and I’m so glad all of this happening. Like I said, it is an all around feel good track, there is nothing negative that can be said with a Daley track.  I can’t stress how much you need to purchase this song, go do it!

Look out for Daley in a city near you if you live in the USA!

NEW MUSIC: Lady GaGa – Do What U Want [Ft. R. Kelly]

I haven’t been the biggest GaGa fan in recent years, but after her much needed break from the industry and her so called comeback, I have kind of jumped on the train. Her previous efforts with ‘Applause’ and ‘Aura’ have been excellent. She has changed her sound completely and unlike her competitors, she has evolved from her previous albums.

I can’t say this song is my favorite out of her releases, but once again, she has surprised us with the collaboration. Her previous efforts were definitely better, but I can’t hate on this, it’s catchy and I’m sure I will at one point jam out to this track.

NEW MUSIC: Moko – Honey Cocaine

I know it has been a while for the music updates, but it’s about time that I bring this back. What a better way to bring it back from a months break than with the soulful sexy Moko. Moko has been featured on the hit Chase & Status song, ‘Count on Me’ which sits at #15 on the UK top 40 charts. Don’t let her collaboration with them fool you though, this chick has everything it takes to make it on her own, including the vocals.

‘Honey Cocaine’ is vocally huge, and I can’t explain how sexy and smooth the beat is, which at times invokes many chills. The end of the track really showcases her vocal abilities, and I have to say that I can’t wait to hear more from her.

Watch out world!

NEW MUSIC: JoJo – Anything (Remix) [Ft. Casey Veggies]

artworks-000056965465-ln4d6a-t500x500

JoJo is someone who has an immense amount of talent, but sadly her record label will not let her show it. Luckily it hasn’t stopped her from putting out tracks for all of us. From her amazing Agape mixtape, to remix tracks such as this.  ‘Anything’ for those that remember, was a track on her album The Longest Road. Now, years later, with her vocals sounding better than ever, she is accompanied by a LA local artist Casey Veggies which is an unlikely pairing, but it fits so perfectly. You can also watch her perform this track live here!

I have always loved me some JoJo, and I will continue to support her because she deserves all of it.

NEW VIDEO: Daley – Broken

I apologize for taking so long posting this, I definitely have not forgot about it. Daley, who remains one of my favorites since I found him, has graced us with a video for his smash tune titled ‘Broken’. ‘Broken’ to sum it all up is pretty much the male break up anthem and it is perfect in every way. Daley’s vocals have never sounded better, and with each track he puts out from his Days & Nights album gets me more and more excited for the release of it.

More recently he has put out a track with rapper Nelly called ‘Heaven‘, which he performed in NYC over the weekend on Good Morning America, hopefully giving him the acknowledgement that he deserves.

Here’s to ‘Heaven’ gaining some success over here, and here’s to Daley giving us a USA tour before that success hits!

NEW VIDEO/ARTIST: Elli Ingram – Poetic Justice (Kendrick Lamar Cover)

I was going through, voting for the MOBO’s in the UK and I came across this talent in the newcomers section, and decided to check her out seeing as she was the only one I didn’t know. Turns out, I fell in love immediately after hearing her cover of Poetic Justice. She has a very Amy Winehouse/Maverick Sabre which immediately drew me towards her, but keeping her own identity with a little breakdown during the verses. Her voice is perfection and this video doesn’t really do justice of some of her live videos.

Anyway, I would definitely watch out for her, especially since Adele is on hiatus at the moment, there is space for her in the market right now
