Ladies and Gentlemen, Sam Smith has returned. “Too Good At Goodbyes” is right down his alley, with his signature church choir providing the background accents. To be honest, we were kind of hoping for a different approach rather than the usual heartbreak anthem, but hopefully he has something else up his sleeve.
I’m sure there will be a collaboration with Disclosure on this album, or one in the near future. For now, I think this is a solid comeback track. I don’t think it will do as well as “Stay With Me”, but still a solid track.
After Adele giving us the heartbreak album, we don’t need another from Sam Smith. Still, I’m excited to hear what he brings to the table, his vocals have definitely been missed!
It s about that time for another Artist Spotlight, this one has just sprung up on me a couple of weeks and he goes by the name of Connor Mullally, or Mullally. He hails from the UK and is self described as as an “edgy, zesty, neo-soul” singer, which I think is just the perfect fit for him. He is the perfect blend of Adam Levine and Maverick Sabre, which are both phenomenal vocalists.
Mullally has a certain twang in his voice that gives him such a soulful edge which can easily set him apart from the rest. He doesn’t have much under his belt just yet, a few YouTube covers, and some originals which only were released recently.
I got hooked instantly on Mullally when I heard him sing his original “Lie With me”. The version below has been on repeat since I first came across it. There is some serious vocal talent here, and not to mention the song itself is well written. This guy is a force.
If you liked what you heard above, I have way more on this talent after the jump!
This time around for my Artist Spotlight feature, I have given the spotlight to the talented vocalist known as, Leroy Sanchez. I stumbled upon his Youtube covers a little bit ago, and I can’t get enough of his vocal ability.
I’m not sure where he is in his career, all I know is that he has a couple of music videos up on youtube, one of which being “By My Side”. All his videos were released over a year ago, so I’m not sure if he is still crafting his sound because it seems by his Youtube covers that he is definitely maturing as an artist.
Check out the rest of my feature after the jump!
Words can’t explain how much this needed to happen. I was very excited when I saw Mary perform ‘F for U’ with Disclosure at one of their New York shows, then heard the news that it was going to be an official track just fueled the fire. Soon after, many reports came out of The queen of soul being in the studio with the duo, and now we have this masterpiece. Mary J’s album is produced completely by Disclosure, and this is exactly the direction that she needs to take it. She is doing something no other soul singer is doing right now, putting her way above the rest right now, which is why she is queen.
I have a lot of respect for Mary and her acknowledgement of the UK scene, and while locking disclosure in for her album, she is going to go miles with this album. I absolutely can’t get enough of this track, and need the rest of the album right now!
Watch out world, Mary J. is back!
Probably one of the biggest songs of the year, Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’ gets cover treatment from the talented Luke James. Luke has made quite the name for himself in the past year or so, opening for Beyonce on her UK leg, and for this guy it’s only the beginning. This cover is fantastic, and one of my favorites that I have heard so far. Luke brings kind of a R&B flow to an already soulful song, and while no one can touch the vocal ability of Sam Smith, Luke definitely holds his own on this track.
Sam Smith is a genius, this is a beautiful song accompanied by a beautiful music video.
Just watch and enjoy.
This is one of those posts that is getting posted because you just need to hear the talent. Sam Smith is such a genius, and I am currently obsessed with him and his album In The Lonely Hour.
Go buy his album and concert tickets now.
