NEW MUSIC: Beyonce & Andre 3000 – Back To Black (Amy Winehouse Cover)

I was a bit skeptical upon hearing that Beyonce and Andre 3000 have joined forces to recreate a very iconic song from Amy Winehouse ‘Back To Black’. After hearing the preview, I have to admit I liked the way the redid it, Beyonce sounds extremely sexy, and the slowed down R&B version could actually be mistaken for a whole different song. Although as much as I love Andre 3000, his feature was useless and bland, and the track definitely could have held it’s own without him.

All that being said, I prefer the original, but they did give it a whole different feel, and I respect that. On another note, The Great Gatsby soundtrack has some unbelievable contributions, and it is turning out to be absolutely amazing!

NEW VIDEO: Rudimental – Baby [Ft. MNEK & Sinead Harnett]

Rudimental, for those who don’t know, has been storming the UK charts for quite some time now. His previous efforts include ‘Feel The Love‘, ‘Not Giving In‘ and one of my favorites, ‘Spoons‘, which also features the soulful MNEK. ‘Baby’ with the addition of Sinead Harnett, is a big track to come from Rudimental, just like previous tracks. This track is filled with dance floor vibes all the way, with the addition of power house vocals from Sinead, this track will definitely make a huge impact on the charts. As big as this track is, the video is just as fun to watch. I believe that Rudimental’s album could be quite big musically, and I can’t wait to hear it!

enjoy!

NEW VIDEO: Vince Kidd – The Zoo [Ft. Vanessa White]

Definitely one of my favorite new comers this past year has been the soulful, raw, Vince Kidd. He hooked me with his release of ‘Taboo’, and after gaining a heap of success on The Voice UK, he has released a sick song for us to enjoy. ‘The Zoo’ definitely sounds like a Kidd masterpiece, from the lyrics to the costumes throughout the video. You can easily tell he had a hand in all aspects of this video, and well the song is freaking fantastic. I hope this guy gets so much success, because he really deserves it!

NEW MUSIC: Union J – Carry You

Union-J-Carry-You-2013-1200x1200

For those that don’t know who Union J, they are the next big boy band to come from X-Factor UK, and while they do follow in the steps of the hugely successful OneDirection, I fully believe that they have better talent as far as vocal abilities go. That being said, their debut single, ‘Carry You’ falls short from the debut expectation I had for them. I saw them coming with a more soulful pop direction, rather than literally falling the footsteps of OneDirection. This song easily sounds like a 1D song, and I hate to say that because I believe this guys actually have some potential. Putting out songs like this will not make them #1, and I blame their team for that because they should have known that.

Anyway, I’m still going to follow these guys, I’m sure there will be a gem on their album somewhere!

NEW MUSIC: Disclosure – You & Me [Ft. Eliza Doolittle]

disclosure

One of my favorites, Disclosure, has released a new summer smash titled ‘You & Me’. This track features the smooth Eliza Doolittle on the vocals who adds kind of pop feel toward the more underground sound. This track is everything summer, and it just adds to the perfection that will be their upcoming album.

NEW MUSIC: Daft Punk – Get Lucky [Ft. Pharrell]

daft-punk-get-lucky-612x612

Daft Punk is indeed back with new music, the world can rest now! This classic sounding Daft Punk features the great Pharrell, who I would have never guessed can flow over a Daft Punk beat, but it works perfectly. This song is absolutely amazing, and extremely catchy. I’m extremely excited to hear what Daft Punk has in store for their new album, and this track will hopefully hold me to that!

NEW MUSIC: Kelis – Alive

kelis-flaunt-5

Kelis is back with a new sound on her fresh track ‘Alive’. Kelis has covered all types of sounds through her career, and now she gives us a more sexy and R&B feel with a bit of trap sound. ‘Alive’ is probably one of my favorite tracks from Kelis thus far, and I think this type of sound fits her voice perfectly, I really hope her album sounds a lot more like this. This amazing track has been produced by the equally amazing Diplo and Switch, who in my eyes have done no wrong with their switchover to R&B artists. This track is absolute perfection, and I’m now excited to hear what the rest of her album might sound like!

NEW MIXTAPE: Jai Paul

2071784683-1

Yeah, this is real life.

Surprising every single person on the internet, the great Jai Paul treats us with what could be one of the best mixtapes of the year. Giving us 16 untitled tracks, some of which include the incredible ‘Jasmine’ and BTSTU’, Jai Paul gives us everything we have been waiting for the past 6 years. There isn’t much else to say, just listen to it, and buy it because it is DEFINITELY worth the money.

Listen to the mixtape here!

NEW MUSIC: Fantasia – Without Me [Ft. Kelly Rowland & Missy Elliott]

fantasia-without-me

I have never really been a fan of Fantasia, I watched her on Idol and since then her music hasn’t really been much interest to me. That being said, this track is probably her best track she has ever put out, and gets me excited to hear what she has going on this time around. I always pictured her as a gospel type of singer, not really pushing any boundaries or anything, but this track proves me wrong in all aspects. ‘Without Me’ has a sort of chopped and screwed feeling, kind of like a new version of ‘Motivation’, but with a Fantasia spin. It’s pretty much a genius piece of music, and you should listen to it immediately!

NEW MUSIC: TNGHT – Acrylics

tnght2

The dynamic duo that is TNGHT made up of Hudson Mohawke and Lunice are back with some more sick beats titled ‘Acrylics’. Their previous releases have been some of favorites, and still on heavy rotation today, and now they grace us with this heavy hitting tune. While I don’t prefer it over some of their tracks like ‘Higher Ground’, I have to say it definitely gets my hype, and I would love to hear this in a club or concert setting for sure. I need more from these two right now!
