NEW MUSIC: M.I.A – Go Off

mia-go-off-640x640

M.I.A is back, and we couldn’t be more excited!

This track is an explosion of swag over a Skrillex produced beat. M.I.A has always been a little bit controversial and different with her sound. This track follows her rather controversial statements about the Black Lives Matter subject that is very touchy at the moment. That being said, I’d like to focus more on the music because that is what we are about.

This track is everything we need from her, and while her previous effort “Borders” was fantastic, this is the M.I.A we know and love. This comes from her next album, AIM, which I read is supposedly her LAST album ever. That is sad news for music fans everywhere, but we hope that she goes out with a bang and this is a fantastic start!

Enjoy!

NEW MUSIC: Britney Spears – Make Me [Ft. G-Eazy]

brit-3def0f45-c7a9-4f06-9eec-326fe6e25bea

Britney Spears is back, and this time, it’s just ok.

I’m usually excited for new music from pop mega-stars such as Britney, but after giving this a couple of listens, it fell flat. Don’t get me wrong, it is an absolute smash, but not for someone like Britney. The first 10 seconds sound like that Nick Jonas and Tove-Lo collab, “Close“. Then the rest of it sound like a mix of Kiiara’s “Gold” and some sort of Flume knock off.

With all those comparisons being said, I see exactly why she took this route because each of those tracks has smashed the charts. As for a Britney move, I expected something bigger and filled with more energy. To add to the generic track, she adds rapper of the moment to the mix, G-Eazy.

Either way, this track is going to do wonders on the charts and everything because it just fits right in. I’m hoping for something else the next time around!

If you want a smash by a pop superstar, see Fergie’s “M.I.L.F

NEW MUSIC: John Newman – Ole [Ft. Calvin Harris]

john-newman-calvin-harris-ole-compressed

The summer anthems have been getting better and better, this time we get one from the crooner, John Newman. The production comes from man of the moment, Calvin Harris, and I have to say he hits the nail on the head.

John Newman gives us the perfect feel good track to chill and drink to. It is hard to tell what direction he is going with this new sound for his new album, but let’s just hope it sounds as good as this.

NEW VIDEO: Fergie – M.I.L.F $

Fergie is officially back.

After her fail of a track, “L.A. Love”, she brings back her trademark swag on the fantastic womens empowerment track, Mom’s I’d Like To Follow or “MILF $”. There is really no telling whether this will be a hit or not but I believe that it has everything behind it to become a smash. The pop world is missing that Fergie flow and we have been waiting entirely too long for a solo album from the dutchess.

NEW MUSIC: Rihanna – Sledgehammer

rihanna-sledgehammer1

After Rihanna failed to impress me with her latest album, Anti, I have been waiting for something else from her to restore my faith in her. She has been teasing this for a couple of days now, and we finally get the release of “Sledgehammer” which is part of the soundtrack of the new Star Trek movie.

This track isn’t great, but it is definitely a lot better than anything on her album. After her previous Mike Will Made-It track, “Nothing is Promised“, and now we have this, I am slowly becoming a Rihanna fan once again.

“Sledgehammer” shows off the powerfully unique vocals while belting over a slow building anthem track. I’m not sure what kind of impact this will have on the movie, but I have to say that I am loving this track for her.

She seems to be every where after the release of her album, probably to make up for keeping us waiting for that long and then being significantly underwhelming.

NEW MUSIC: Leo Kalyan – Lean On & On

leo-kalyan_jwfve5

I needed a minute to absorb everything that is happening in this track before I was able to post it.

Leo Kalyan just gained so much respect for smashing this mash-up of Major Lazer and Erykah Badu. With his recent release of visuals from “Daydream”, he continues his reign combining so many influences from every genres.

This track is the perfect blend of sexy and soulful to make one incredible mash-up by a rising talent. Leo doesn’t quite have an album under his belt yet, but I feel it will be a big one that can stand alongside the likes of Jamie Woon and James Blake.

NEW MUSIC:Lee Walker vs DJ Deeon – Freak Like Me [Ft. Katy B]

I have been a fan of the original version of this track already, so when they decided to throw one of my favorites, Katy B, into the mix, I was more than welcoming. This track is an absolute dance floor smash, and it is already doing wonders over seas in the UK.

Still waiting patiently for Katy B to make her USA tour, but till then I will keep her album Honey, on heavy rotation.

NEW MUSIC: Troye Sivan – Wild [Ft. Alessia Cara]

troye-sivan-wild-alessia-cara-cover-413x413

Troye Sivan, one of my all time favorites, has released the infectious “Wild”, as his next single and it features the amazing rising star, Alessia Cara. Troye doesn’t need any more praise from me, but Alessia deserves a lot for taking this already amazing track to another level.

Troye’s collaborations have always been somewhat low-key and it worked out for him perfectly because his album, Blue Neighbourhood, was one of my favorites of last year. While they are both still somewhat rising stars, Alessia’s raw, soulful vocals flow perfectly along side Troye’s innocent and emotional sound.

These guys are going far in the business, I can bank on that.

NEW MUSIC: Usher – Crash

usher-640x427

Usher has always been hit or miss for me over the past couple of years, but it seems he is slowly catching his stride with a string of releases such as, “Good Kisser”, “There Goes My Baby”, “I Don’t Mind”, and a few others.

Usher is finally making his return with the release of “Crash”. This radio friendly smash is perfection, it is synth filled magic under a silk falsetto by the R&B star. Usher has also released a more urban flavor track featuring Young Thug, “No Limit“, which I wasn’t as much of a fan but it is safe to say that Usher is doing it right this time around.

Take a listen to “Crash” below!

NEW MUSIC: DJ Khaled – For Free [Ft. Drake]

dj-khaled-drake-for-free

A little slow on this one, but I haven’t been able to find a good quality for this track yet since it isn’t officially out yet.

Anyway, I haven’t really cared for DJ Khaled as of late, but he is making big moves in his career opening for Beyonce on her Formation tour so I can respect that. DJ Khaled makes a very smart with this one giving the man who has one of the biggest albums of the year to feature on his newest single, Drake.

I actually love this track, it isn’t anything special but it is perfect for the summer time. Drake keeps his momentum going from his album, Views, with his bars on this track.

There really isn’t anything else to say about it, its the perfect move for both of them and it is going to generate a smash.
